The habit of going the extra mile simply means to make more effort than is expected of you and doing it with a positive mental attitude.  It is the act of going above and beyond what is expected. Going the extra mile is the difference between being average versus being one of the top performers in the world.

BLOOMS & SMILES (https://www.bloomsandsmiles.com/the-habit-of-going-the-extra-mile/) listed a couple of advantages that comes with the habit of going an extra mile.

1. It will bring you more opportunities

You will get a chance to see the world from a different perspective and that will help you see opportunities that are disguised as hard work.

2. More mental growth

You will learn a lot as you keep going further. Your experience new thinking patterns. Go an extra mile reading books online or even taking up courses that you thinking you won't succeed at.

3. You will develop a positive mental attitude

Instead of seeing difficulties, your mind will see opportunities to grow. Eventually the positive mental attitude will overflow and it will help you to carry a beautiful smile on your face most of the time. In addition, the way you argue or talk will be dominated by phrases like, "WE WILL FIND A WAY, YES WE CAN, I WILL TRY TO HELP YOU, I CAN DO THIS, THERE SHOULD BE ANOTHER WAY". You will be hopeful, faithful in a difficult situation.

4.  You will be inspired to find even better ways to render service to others

Kindness is not about recognition; it’s about being satisfied knowing that you’re helping others to succeed. Your mind will find ways to render service to others even if there seems to be no way.

5. You will develop the most important quality of personal initiative

When I was in my teenage years, I developed a habit of doing chores before I am told to do so. I will just get every morning go in the field without being told or I will start repairing our home or fix the fence or the kraal. This idea of personal initiative led me to be more responsible and accountable some authors call this LIVING ABOVE THE LINE (https://eugenefirst.site123.me/daily-motivations/stay-above-the-line ).

6. It leads to self-reliance and courage

Although we live in the century where collaboration and working together is a must, you can not rely on others forever, you should start solving your own problems. It is the only way you can build up your courage, when you are in a group you will feel safe and your courage is not the same when you are alone. As much as dependency is needed being independent should be encouraged as well because there comes a time when you need to think for yourself.

7. Others will be start admiring your integrity

My mentor once said, if people bring their problems to you so you solve them it is because they see quality leadership skills in deeds, thinking patterns and the life that you lead.

8.  You will destroy your habit of procrastination

The act of delaying or postponing something will not get attention in your life because every time you are one step ahead of your schedule.
